In most cases we complete three tests: the first is a Schirmer Tear Test which measure tear production by placing a specialized strip of paper inside the lower eyelid; the second test is Fluorescein stain testing where an orange appearing dye is applied to eye to look for green fluorescence under a blue light and the presence of damage to the surface of the eye or abnormal tears; the final test is intraocular pressure (IOP) where the pressure inside the eye is measured to determine if glaucoma (high eye pressure) or uveitis (low eye pressure) is detected.
